Children are presented with the wide range and applications of Computing. They learn to apply skills in word processing, data handling and graphics. Also, they use a range of devices (such as digital microphones) to record and share their learning.  These skills are used to enhance work produced in other areas of the curriculum.   The new National Curriculum replaced ICT with Computing.  This subject now includes a strong focus on computer programming, including understanding algorithms (sets of instructions) and using these as part of their programming.

All classrooms have an interactive whiteboard. We have two laptop trolleys with 18 laptops in each. In addition to this we have a set of 8 iPads. The school is linked to a computer network and to the Internet, which has a ‘fire wall’ to ensure relevant access and protection.  We take issues of e-safety very seriously at Skelmanthorpe F and N School, for further information please visit our e-safety page.
